Interior Design Studio Manager
Debbie Oakes moved to Cape Cod in 1993, with her husband and 2 young children, vowing to “do something in the arts” because for her, that is what Cape Cod is all about – – a magnificent landscape inspiring creativity. And she did…first within the fledgling Community Foundation of Cape Cod, where she founded the program “Making Art and Making a Living,” and then as the Executive Director of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, where she led the AFCC from start-up phase to an arts organization supporting, promoting and celebrating the arts on Cape Cod with a full array of services. In 2004 she was able to pursue her own passion for interior design and decoration, attending the Boston Architectural College, and then when fortunes required a move off-Cape, she worked for 7 years at Designer’s Library, a “to the trade” showroom in western New York. It was there that she acquired in-depth knowledge of interior design business and the home furnishings industry, as well as experience in residential and commercial interior design.
Recently joining Aline Architecture, as Studio Manager of Aline Interiors, Debbie will have the opportunity to bring her marketing, planning and problem-solving skills, as well as design and project management skills to help clients realize their personal vision for their homes and businesses…and maybe even help them achieve something beyond their expectations.
Debbie is currently engaged in a many-years-long effort to make her home (shared with husband Karl, and 2 kitties, Wiggy and Sophie) an expression of her own creativity and story – – and this includes integrating art – – decorative and functional – – as much as possible. We recently installed 2 laser cut metal panels on the stair landing made from a cut-paper design by local artist and friend, Heather Blume – – it is awesome.
