Island House
The Island house was built on the edge of a coastal bank overlooking Wellfleet in 1994. It was a collaborative design by Alan Dodge and Joy Cuming when Joy worked for Alan Dodge, Architect as an associate architect. The house was built by Leif A Johnson, Custom Builder. Twenty two years later, after the house changed owners several times, Aline Architecture was commissioned to renovate and remodel the interiors of the house to breathe new life into the spaces without compromising the integrity of the original house.
Renovations included: the redesign of the Kitchen, designing a new more substantial stairway to a Loft which was repurposed as an Office for the new owners, designing entertainment cabinet with a retractable TV, reworking the Front Foyer to incorporate a Laundry Facility and a more commodious Half Bath, redesigning the Master Bedroom Suite, remodeling the lower level Bathroom, remodeling the three lower Bedrooms including the design of built-in furniture, and reconfiguring the outside space to create a more welcoming and functional pathway to the Front Entry on the upper level.
